National Retailers – Tardy window displays!

Casually window shopping yesterday, I was shocked to see just how Tardy some of the big national retailers are with regards to window displays.

Edgars were on January sale, the only window dedicated to this had four spotlights above the mannequins but only two were working the other two were out.

In the men’s window the window dresser had left the medium size sticker still on the front of the t shirt. Just too lazy or no attention to detail.

Truworths had launched sale by hanging a “Sale ” banner in the window, but this visual display person was also too lazy to remove the kids mannequins and kids signage, instead just left them in the window. The old price display tickets were also just left knocked over to be seen by all…….

Foschini was no better leaving size stickers on the denims of the mannequins and tags on the accessories.

They also had a four shelf shoe display stand with the capacity to hold 16 shoes. Instead of showing a variety, i.e. 16 different styles to show a full range to the consumer, the stand had four of the same shoe on each shelf only displaying 4 options. Is this another case of a lazy visual display person or has the HO marketing department gone crazy and instructed the display staff to do this?

You would think with the economy moving towards recession and stores struggling to achieve sales targets, the national retailers would use the windows to show off product in a professional manner and attract potential customers. Is management not concerned with how the visual displays in stores are executed or is it simply a case of no pride left by the store staff,

enjoy your shopping
