Are you still living in the past, drinking coffee made from a spoon of instant granules and boiling water? Do yourself a service and get down to the V@A Waterfront, Canal Walk, or Sandton City and pay a visit to the Nespresso store.
This is not a new concept the stores have been operating in South Africa for a few years now, the V@A Waterfront was the first in Capetown and then Canal Walk opened in late 2014.
I visited the Canal Walk store this week and was impressed by four factors during my visit…..
- The store design, fixture and fitting quality and attention to detail in creating the store atmosphere. This store is larger than the V @ A and really feels like you are shopping in a quality environment.
- The increase in the product range in both coffee makers and coffee capsules. The coffee machines come in various models with the top of the range combining a milk froother at the touch of a button.
An array of coffee flavors and strengths cater for all tastes. Chocolate, vanilla, hazelnut, mint etc. - I had been in the mall for a hour before I got to Nespresso and most stores I visited were very quiet. Not so for Nespresso it was really busy with customers enjoying the interaction with the staff creating a vibe which made you want to stay in the store longer.
- Great staff and brilliant level of customer service. The store team are dressed in a smart uniform which immediately takes the service up a notch. I was assisted by Catherine, the assistant manager who really went out of her way to explain the coffee ingredients and the tastes I would expect to find when I enjoyed the complimentary cappuchino she prepared for me. 10 out of 10 to this team leader…..
The current coffee promotion was Umutima wa Lake Kivu a blend from Rwanda in a green capsule and Tanim de Chiapas from Mexico in a pink coloured capsule. My preference was definately the Mexican variety and bought two sleeves or 20 capsules. 
The packaging and product range simply screams quality delivered with delightful service way above expectation. Well done Nespresso, I will definately be back…Some other retailers out in the malls could learn a few customer service points from this store team.
