It’s always exciting when new retail concepts open in our South African malls. This is especially so when the new store has also managed to create a unique experience you won’t find from its competitors.
Tread + Miller is in this category opening it’s doors in the Canal Walk shopping mall downstairs next to Foschini. The store is focused on a range of men’s footwear and also offers a small selection of Ladies shoes .
It definitely has a masculine feel when you enter the store driven by the rich dark tan leather seaters and the solid wood floor. In the corner of the store sits a leather chair where you can relax and have a shoe shine done by the very helpful sales associates. They will even bring you a cup of coffee while you watch your beloved leather brogues being restored with love and care. How better to spend sometime on a Saturday morning!
The product is +/- 80% male, with many local and international brands. Crockett and Jones, Arthur Jack, Sperry, and Cushe to name a few. The majority of formal shoes have price points between R1099 and R1399, bearing in mind the product is leather and manufactured with a high regard to quality. (Average Aldo price is R1299 or if you want a leather sole it will be R1899). I spotted a pair of Crockett and Jones Ostrich shoes at R4,300 and they were magnificent.
Casual shoes, leather sandals and a wide selection of accessories which include leather belts, socks, and wallets are all available. Don’t forget to buy some shoe care always a must when you are buying quality footwear.
The friendly sales associates are dressed in black pants, blue shirts and aprons looking like the old shoe makers from the past. They are all passionate about shoes, Tread + Miller in particular and will assist you to fit your new shoes with a smile.
